I am a non-USA potential buyer. What are your policies regarding customs?
Customs and Import Duties Information
You may be subject to import duties which are levied once the package reaches your country. Additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you, we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, you should contact your local customs office for further information, Additionally, when ordering from us, you are considered the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods. We will not mark our packages as GIFT in order for you to avoid paying customs, import taxes and / or duties.
I see the sold sign on several items, why don't you just delete these items?
Deleting the item from our inventory would take it out completely from the data base. Sold items usually stay for a couple of weeks for the buyer to still be able to return to the listing to read the text. This is our courtesy and a sign of honesty. After a couple of weeks, when the buyer paid, the package is sent (and feedback may have been left (see FAQ why don't all buyers leave feedback) we take the item completely off the site.
Are your items new or used?
The majority of our items are previously owned items as well as vintage items, in new without store tags or very gently used condition. We will make every reasonable effort to describe these items truthfully and help you decide whether or not to purchase that item. Check out the FAQ below for more information!
What are your categories to describe the condition of an item?
THE MAJORITY OF OUR ITEMS ARE NEW WITH OR WITHOUT STORE TAGS, OR PREVIOUSLY OWNED BUT HAVE NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF WEAR. ONLY RARELY DO WE LIST ANYTHING THAT HAS VISIBLE SIGNS OF WEAR OR BLEMISHES, AND YOU WILL MOST LIKELY FIND THOSE ITEMS IN THE BARGAIN RACK SECTION.
We use the following categories to indicate the condition of our items:
NWT = NEW ITEM WITH STORE TAGS = ITEM WAS NEVER USED BEFORE AND IS IN NEW CONDITION;
NWOT = NEW ITEM WITHOUT STORE TAGS (OR: PREOWNED, LIKE NEW) = ITEM MAY HAVE BEEN STORED FOR A WHILE, BUT WAS NOT USED BEFORE AND IS IN NEW CONDITION;
EXCELLENT PREOWNED = ITEM WAS PREVIOUSLY ENJOYED BUT VERY GENTLY CARRIED AND HAS MINIMAL VISIBLE SIGNS OF WEAR;
VERY GOOD PREOWNED = ITEM HAS BEEN USED AND IS IN VERY GOOD, CLEAN CONDITION INSIDE OUT, BUT MAY SHOW SOME MORE PROMINENT, VISIBLE SIGNS OF WEAR (FOR EXAMPLE, TINY SCUFF MARKS ON THE LEATHER, MILD COLOR LOSS TO THE HARDWARE, OR WEAR ON THE SOLES OF A PAIR OF SHOES);
GOOD PREOWNED = ITEM HAS BEEN USED AND SHOWS A FEW VISIBLE SIGNS OF USE, SOME SCUFFS AND EDGE WEAR, SOME MINOR COLOR RUB-OFF OR MINOR SPOTS OF STAIN IN THE LINING, OR LOSSES SEAMS, OR A COMBINATION OF THESE; BUT STILL A VERY GOOD DEAL FOR THE MONEY;
ALL OUR PREVIOUSLY USED ITEMS MAY NEED TO BE DRY CLEANED DUE TO HAVING BEEN STORED.
Do you combine shipping?
Yes, we do! However, combined shipping doesn't mean only the first item is charged shipping and all other items ship for free. Combined shipping means you will receive a discount from the shipping price of the second, third, etc. item.
This flat rate includes a delivery confirmation for NO extra charge for you! For the second and third item we charge half price shipping; and the fourth item ships for free. This shipping discount is valid on items that were purchased within 5 business days and which are being invoiced together.
WHEN MULTIPLE ITEMS ARE PURCHASED, FIRST THE MOST EXPENSIVE SHIPPING IS CHARGED, THEN THE COMBINED SHIPPING RULES APPLY. YOU'LL FIND THE QUOTES FOR SHIPPING AND HANDLING IN THE TERMS SECTION, LOOK FOR THE BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.
How do you measure clothing items?
We include measurements in our listings to help you decide whether the item you intend to purchase may fit.
We take our measurements of the garment while it is lying flat. Waist, chest and hem (if described) measurements need to be doubled to get the total circumference.
Chest: Measured from one underarm to the other underarm across the bust.
Shoulder Width: Measured from shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back.
Waist: Measured flat across the waist.
Rise (front): Measured from crotch to lower seam of waist band.
Rise (rear): Measured from crotch to waist band.
Inseam: Measured from crotch to leg cuff.
Sleeve: Measured from shoulder to sleeve cuff.
Length of blazer, jacket, blouse, top: measured from collar seam to hem.
Dress Length: Measured from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of hem line.
Skirt Length: Measured from waist band to hem line.
Hip: Measured flat across the garment side to side approximately 8" below waist.
Base Circumference (dresses & skirts): Measured flat across the hem line side to side.
What are your return policies?
Your satisfaction is very important to us! You may return the item with no questions asked as long as the following criteria are met:
We do not take back shoes, no exceptions to this rule apply! For all other items, please read below:
- (1) you contact us first for a return authorization number (no returns will be accepted without that number issued);
- (2) the item reaches us no later than within 5 business days or the usual delivery time with USPS Parcel Post, whichever is shorter (add on days for weekend or holiday) after the return authorization number was issued;
- (3) the item is in the exact condition it left our premises (no damage or visible sign of wear);
- (4) postage (shipping and handling) is excluded from refund.
Please note, it is your responsibility to insure the package or purchase delivery confirmation for 50 cents to make the package trackable on the way back to us. We won't be able to refund you for a lost package or damaged item.
If we determine that the item was used, we reserve the right to deduct a 25% restocking fee or refuse the refund entirely. In the latter case we will ship the item back to you, and there won't be any further opportunity to request a refund for the same item.

I see you take payments via Google Checkout. What is it, and how do I sign up?
Google checkout is an integrated payment service operating similar to PayPal or PPPay. Signing up is real easy, and allows you to shop all over the Internet using your google account (no need to register anywhere else after the initial registration is complete). Are you going to send me an invoice before I pay?
If you have already signed up for google checkout or have a PayPal account, you will be able to send payment even without waiting of an invoice. With a single item purchase, you can simply click on checkout once you are done then pay through GC or PayPal (whichever shopping cart you used). If you purchased multiple items, please make sure to send the correct shipping charge and mailing address as explained in these FAQ (see combined shipping rules). If you are from outside of the USA, please wait of the invoice or e-mail prior to sending payment, as we need to determine your shipping cost first. Once you receive our invoice you will have 3 days within which your payment needs to reach us, otherwise the sale is null and void. When is my payment due?
All purchases must be paid for within 3 days after being invoiced. Our payment methods are: Google Checkout, PayPal, money order, certified check. Illinois residents need to pay 7% state based sales tax. Late payment or non-sufficient shipping cost, missing sales tax (charged only within the state of IL) may result in transaction being canceled, payment refunded, with results null and void. Please ask your questions prior to purchasing an item.
We won't be able to make any exception to these rules.
Why is your feedback so low when I can see you sold several items?
The feedback system on e-crater only allows for certain transactions to participate. For example, only buyers who purchased an item and pay instantaneously with PayPal or Google Checkout can leave feedback. Those who pay with some delay, aren't able to leave feedback for the transaction at this time. Also, many e-mail providers may automatically put the e-mail from e-crater (containing the link to leaving feedback) into the bulk or spam mail folder; or discard of it entirely. Therefore, only a fraction of sold items / feedback will ever be visible, unless this system undergoes changes. Currently, it is not possible to import feedback from other sites.
